La Jolla Ashen Boutique and Salon

Published : 2/18/2008 by Jenny Herman

Ashen Boutique in La Jolla is like a breath of fresh air. The wide-open space of this seaside boutique and hair salon is filled with men's and women's clothing and accessories, alongside a sprinkling of salon services and hair styling products.

Opened in September of 2007, owners/buyers/stylists, Hailey Bakich and Megan Stuhr, always dreamed of owning their own business. Their lifelong desire to open a salon, mixed with their passion for fashion, Ashen was born.

The Ashen Salon specializes in precision haircutting, rich and innovative hair color and legitimately natural hair extensions. Hayley, along with her group of hair stylists, is fantastic at designing the best haircut for each of her clients. Not only will you have the hairstyle you have always dreamed of, you will truly have a great time with the energetic, laid-back and friendly girls of Ashen around to brighten your day.

Constantly receiving new arrivals, you can find the following brands at Ashen: Madison Marcus, Mason, Mike & Chris, Garcon, Nation Ltd, MK2K, Ghita, Harlow, Rory Becca, Cory Lynn Calter dresses, Vita jewelry, Nikki Jags, Leila, Rachael Leigh jewelry, Twinkle jewelry, Lauren Mooshi, Ever, Dolan feminine dresses, Onna Ehlirich Handbags, Olga Kapistina, Fluet feminine dresses, Loomstate, and Ever for men.

Known as La Jolla's newest and most exclusive shopping and styling destination, this one-stop-shop allows for a varied makeover experience all within the Ashen walls. Leave the salon with perfectly styled and colored hair and grab one of the latest fashions with a beautiful Cory Lynn Calter dress, some Rachael Leigh jewelry, and a Laura Matthews handbag, and you're ready for a night out on the town at Jack's La Jolla, or the latest spot Prospect Bar and Lounge.

Awful over priced hair salon

This place made my hair so much uglier. Sure a bad hair cut is fixable but a bad hair coloring is hard to fix. I had to pay $80 for a "cut" and a coloring that was supposed to make my hair red but instead turned it black. The hair dresser kept saying O im just going to put a lil brown it. He wouldn't even hear me as I said I wanted it to be redder. He saw how bad of a job he did and said that he won't charge me for the coloring but still charge me $80 for a hair cut that I could've done better (and have done better). I highly do not recommend this wast e of money and time.

Worlds Best Salon & Boutique

I absolutely love this salon! I drive from Orange County to get my hair done here every month. It is an experience, I can shop, go have lunch in La Jolla and get my hair done. My stylist is amazing and she gives me great, fashionable cut & color. I feel at home at Ashen, which you should when you go to the salon! I would recommend this salon and it's stylist's to anyone!

i love ashen!

i normally don't spend too much $ on my hair however i wanted it to be extra special for a night so i made an appt. at ashen because i had heard good things. it was worth every penny! there is such a difference between a a decent cut/color opposed to a stylist who really knows what they're doing. p.s. all the clothes are soo amazingly cute!

Ashen is the place to go!

If you are looking for a cute style and super friendly service, Ashen is the place to go. I have been following the owner/hair stylist to every salon she has done hair at. I now travel from LA to San Diego and walk out completely satisfied every time! I even have friends who come from San Francisco for haircuts and color. I would highly recommend trying Ashen out for a cutting/color experience.

Ashen is wonderful!!

This salon is absolutely ADORABLE. The stylists that work there are honestly the best you will find in La Jolla...and also the sweetest! Everyone knows what they are doing and their passion is shown with an exquisite end result. All my friends and I goto Daniel in there, he's a GENIUS with hair. Highly recommended!

The owner knows NOTHING about fashion!

The clothes in the salon are ok, nothing to ride home about but I live in the area and needed a dress quick. The owner knew NOTHING about fahsion and wouldn't leave me alone. It was a horrible shopping experience, I just wanted to get in buy a dress and get out. From now on I will plan ahead and head over to the mall before entering this boutique that claims to be high-end. I told all my friends to not even waste their time stopping by, head over to prospect instead TRUST ME!

HORRIBLE

Sadly enough the owner of the boutique has no clue about fashion. I went in there in dire need of a cocktail dress or some cute going out on the town outfit and the owner tried to assist me which was just pathetic. She was horribly dressed and isnt from here; therefore, know NOTHING about what us girls like to wear out on the town! i live in the area which is why I decided to check this place out. I already told my girlfriends not to waste their time checking out the clothes, plan ahead and go to the mall! You WILL appreciate this advise!! Do not waste your time stopping by ashen... trust me!

i think the owners are lesbians, one is kinda dykey. i believe that is enough said, cuz u dont take ur fashion advice from lesbos! this salon belongs in hillcrest, or the border like the above comment advises! don't waste ur time, head over to prospect!
