After 4 years of ownership, Annie Loos is passing the reins of Mog and Rue, a fashion-forward boutique in Encinitas, over to another North County resident Kristin Di Zinno. Di Zinno will continue her career as the leader of the marketing and business development group at one of San Diego's top law firms while she upholds and further establishes Mog and Rue’s stylish presence in the community. 

Mog and Rue, a mod clothing store, is best known for its integration of unique East and West coast designer pieces. The boutique was established is 2006, and quickly became a well-known facet of the Encinitas Lumberyard shopping plaza. The petite, uncluttered boutique with white walls, dark brown floors and fresh flowers ushers in a friendly, comfortable yet unparalleled atmosphere that Di Zinno pledges she will not change.

Mog and Rue will still host its weekly fashion drawing classes: one of the shop’s most unique attributes. Geared for ages 8-14, Loos taught students who were interested in fashion careers the “how-to” of trends, dressing, colors, what not to wear and the formal names of clothing and how to sketch them. 

Di Zinno also has plans to strengthen the Mog and Rue brand that Loos created. With stronger public relations and charity events, Di Zinno hopes to make more of the county aware of Mog and Rue existence in Encinitas.

Giving back to charities is close to the new owner’s heart. She plans to hold several San Diego events throughout the year that will assist in supporting these benevolent efforts. Her first event at the boutique will Sunday, July 19 from 11am-4pm. Off to the Races - Horses, Hats and Haute Couture will support After the Finish Line, a non-profit for Thoroughbred racehorses that are transitioned off the racetrack. Shoppers who donate $5 to the charity will receive a 15% discount on dresses.
