Q: I have cankles so all of my flip-flops look really bad. What is the best shoe for thicker legs? Or at least legs with non-existent ankles?
A: Sadly, cankles will never be an "in look." If you're wearing a skirt or dress, forget the flats. They might be trendy, but if you've got cankles, they're simply not for you! The best thing (aside from hiding your shapeless ankles under a pair of pants) is to say hello to a pair of heels.
Del Mar's Matti D's and La Jolla's Lets Go boutiques both have an affordable and wide selection of shoes to choose from. Try putting your shapeless stems into a pair of wedges or espadrille sandals. For fall, try a pair of slide-in mules. The pointed tip will help elongate legs.
Most importantly, stay away from anything lace-up or deemed "strappy." No matter how cute they are, they're the worst enemy of thick ankles.
