Fashion Valley’s Tiffany & Co
blesses San Diego with the ultimate, only occasionally affordable
status symbol: Tiffany’s jewelry. The store has been freshly
renovated, perfectly sleek-and-chic to mirror the fabulous
collections ranging from timepieces to flatware to engagement rings.
Tiffany & Co has been around since
1837, believe it or not, when Charles Lewis Tiffany and a certain
John B Young established Tiffany and Young, a fancy-goods emporium in
New York City which boasted first-day sales of $4.98. Over the years,
the prices rose a little higher than that, and the company has upheld
an unparalleled level of quality and craftsmanship. Over its
illustrious history, Tiffany’s designed swords, flags and surgical
implements for the Civil War; dispersed various pieces to museums
worldwide; and was featured in the classic 1950 film based on the
Truman Capote novel, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, starring Audrey
Hepburn.
Most recently, Tiffany & Co has
introduced pieces by Frank O. Gehry, arguable the world’s greatest
living architect, who designed the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao and
the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The pieces are stunning in form and
ingenuity, and will be a talked-about heirloom for generations.
