In recent years, San Diego shoppers have had all eyes on Fashion Valley. There are many great malls in San Diego, but the Fashion Valley resume continued to impress us with new designer additions, swaying local schedules back to the Valley for all shopping needs.
However, if you’ve yet to hear, Westfield UTC has a big surprise up its sleeve, and the local preference may soon relocate to La Jolla. Explained as a community-inspired vision, UTC announces a $900 million renovation, including more than 150 new boutiques and specialty shops, three new department stores, revamped park and ice rink, state-of-the-art movie theater experience, cutting edge design, environmentally sustainable materials, pedestrian-friendly walkways and much more.
The San Diego City Council approved plans for the $900 million revitalization of Westfield UTC on July 29, 2008, the result of nearly seven years of collaboration with the community to transform UTC into a blueprint for 21st century town center where people can live, work and play all in one place.
There is no ideal completion date released for the Westfield UTC renovation, but the San Diego shopping scene is soon to change forever with the all new UTC experience.
